Data Loggers for K-8 Science in the Lansing School District

At the conclusion of the 2005-2006 school year, our Lansing School District (LSD) contracted with OnSet Computer Corporation to offer a professional development workshop about the use of HOBO data loggers for representatives from each of our 26 elementary schools and 4 middle schools.   Thirty-three teachers and three principals attended this PD session on June 22, 2006, which was held in one of the computer labs at Gardner Middle School.   At the end of the session, each participating school received a CD with HOBOware software, a CD with over 300 data logger lab activities from the iScience Project, a HOBO Henry figure, an Intro Data Logger, and a pair of Pendant Data Loggers.

For more information about this professional development opportunity and possible follow-up activities during the 2006-2007 school year, contact R. Timothy Smith, LSD's Elementary Science Teacher Specialist, via e-mail ( or by telephone (755-2903).
