[These documents were originally developed during the summer of 2001 as our district's elementary science pacing guides.  When district administration decided a year later to replace them with pacing guides composed of "bulleted" lists similar in format to the pacing guides for other curriculum areas, the Elementary Science Steering Committee voted to make these documents our "Elementary Science Curriculum Guide" -- i.e., they serve both as the basis for and clarification of the "revised" elementary science pacing guides.  The remainder of this page remains the same as when it was originally created in the fall of 2002.]

Use the links below to view either the 2-5 science scope and sequence, the entire set of grades 2-5 science pacing guides, a grade-level set of pacing guides, or the pacing guide for an individual grade-level unit.

2-5 Science Scope and Sequence Chart

DRAFT 2-5 Science Pacing Guides  This "web-based" version of our DRAFT 2-5 science pacing guides includes links among our units where appropriate, as well as to resources outside our district (e.g., downloadable versions of the Michigan Curriculum Framework (2000) science benchmarks, "Connecting Themes" from MEGOSE, MI-BIG narratives, and MI-CLiMB clarifications for each benchmark).  Note that MI-CLiMB clarifications and lesson suggestions are written for a benchmark as a whole, whereas our pacing guides may only expect development of part of a benchmark within a given unit.  Use the "Main Ideas and Connections" and "Notes for Teachers" sections of our pacing guides to clarify how much or which portions of a benchmark to work on with your students for a given unit.
