1.     Look through the teacher's guide for the module you are evaluating.  What do the explicit statements of goals, objectives, concepts to be developed, etc., promise?  What do the authors say the module will help children understand?  List those concepts and goals here, along with a page reference for each citing.

2.     How well do the objectives and goals found in the curriculum materials match the Michigan Curriculum Frameworks (2000) Science Benchmarks designated for this unit by our Lansing School District grades 2-5 Science Pacing Guide (or the ESSC-approved K-1 recommendations)?  Please be specific about each MCF benchmark and how well it is developed in the module you are evaluating.  Note any discrepancies between what is offered in the module being evaluated and the MCF benchmarks designated for the unit in the LSD pacing guide.  List the MCF code and text of each MCF benchmark in the pacing guide for this unit, and provide details about how well the module matches the content for each one.

3.     Does the module look like it will address all of the key concepts in each of the MCF benchmarks, or just parts of them?  List each benchmark by MCF code, and provide details about which benchmarks are completely addressed, and which ones are only partly addressed.  Are the latter situations sufficient for the grade level at which the materials will be used?  Does the module address aspects of the benchmarks that are not appropriate for the grade level at which the materials will be used?

4.     Is the module a good match for the MCF benchmarks designated for the unit in the LSD pacing guide?  Please make a recommendation below and provide reasons for your judgment.
