The following list indicates (in reverse chronological order) the latest additions and changes to our "ElSci" (Elementary Science) web site:

  •     1/19/2007    New    A link to an EDLINE home page for LSD Science (K-12) has been added to the "Useful Links" listing on the left-hand side of the primary ElSci web pages.  Although this page serves currently simply as a "place holder," eventually, we hope to have this be our primary site for all science-related information for our district.

  •     1/10/2007    New    Links to information about our district's Ebersole Environmental Education and Conference Center have been added to the "Useful Links" listing on the left-hand side of the primary ElSci web pages.

  •     11/27/2006    Update    MS-Word documents listing the Michigan Curriculum Framework (2000) "constructing" and "reflecting" on science knowledge benchmarks for both the elementary school and the middle school portions of our science education program have been updated as per the September 12, 2006, vote of our Elementary Science Steering Committee (ESSC) in anticipation of expected changes to the Michigan Curriculum Framework for science by the spring of 2007.  Links to these documents can be found both on the "Adopted Curriculum Modules for Elementary School Science" web page and the ESSC Information web page.

  •     10/18/2006    Update    The "Adopted Curriculum Modules for Elementary School Science" page has been updated to include the following information for each of our 22 K-5 science units:  module publisher, module title, print materials format, and number of MCF (2000) "using" science knowledge benchmarks associated with the science unit.  In addition, a link from each unit's benchmarks number listing displays a pop-up window with the complete text of the MCF (2000) "using" benchmarks associated with that science unit.

  •     9/22/2006    New    This page, added to our science workshops listings, provides a description of our upcoming "science and technology" PD session, to be held the morning of November 7th at Gunnisonville Elementary School.  This workshop will provide an opportunity for LSD K-12 staff to share ideas for more effectively using our recently obtained HOBO data loggers and Vernier Go!Temp probes.

  •     9/15/2006    Archive & New    ESSC links and files specific to the 2005-2006 school year have been archived. (Click here to access the 2005-2006 ESSC archive web page. A similar link to this archive can be found on the current ESSC web page.) A new web page has been created for ESSC links and files for the 2006-2007 school year.

[Start of the 2006-2007 school year]

  •     6/31/2006    New    A listing with links to information about "Data Loggers and Probeware" has been added to the "Useful Links" listing on the left-hand side of the primary ElSci web pages.  Of particular interest for LSD staff are likely to be the links for LSD PD and use of HOBO data loggers and Vernier's 25th anniversary giveaway of a free Go!Temp probe to each K-12 school in the USA.

  •     6/2/2006    New    A link to a MS-Word document that displays our middle school science scope and sequence has been added to the "Useful Links" listing on the left-hand side of the primary ElSci web pages.

  •     5/8/2006    New    A link for our e-Homework: Science program has been added to the "Useful Links" listing on the left-hand side of the primary ElSci web pages.

  •     12/21/2005    New & Update    Our ESSC-sponsored "Science Notebooks" PD series is being extended to include three more half-day PD sessions during the 2006 Spring Semester.  A web page has been created with information about the new 2006 Spring series, and the Fall 2005 sessions web page has been updated as well.

  •     12/20/2005    New    A link for our LSD LASER Team work has been added to the "Useful Links" listing on the left-hand side of the primary ElSci web pages.  With funding from the Dow Chemical Company and Hewlett-Packard, the Lansing School District sent a team of five administrators and teachers to a five-day LASER Institute in Washington DC during mid-July 2005 to begin developing a five-year strategic plan for our district's science education program.  This link provides access to information about the LASER program and resources to support our continuing development and implementation of our five-year plan.
