Gases

"Gas" is one the phases of matter.

Examples of gases (at normal temperatures and pressures) include: oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and water vapor. Our atmosphere is composed mostly of the gases nitrogen and oxygen.

The properties of matter in the gaseous phase include:

  1. Variable shape.
  2. Variable volume.

The behavior of gases is described by the Ideal Gas Law.
